After graduating from GHS I attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS where I majored in Aerospace Engineering.  I graduated in 1969 with my BS and MS and went back east to St. Louis, MO to work for McDonnell  Douglas.  I started in the aerodynamics department working on advanced design concepts.  What was advanced in 1969 is now in production.  After a few years I moved to a team called "Loads and Dynamics".  Our team is responsible for defining the external loads so that the structures can be designed.  We are involved in all phases of the aircraft, from definition of initial specifications, to design, and loads verification through ground and flight test.  Although we support all of the tactical aircraft, most of my time has been on the major fighter programs, F-15 and F/A-18.

After college I got to "hone" my tennis skills and helped organize a subdivision tennis league.  It was through tennis that I met my wife, Dale.  We met on the tennis court after she called me to join the tennis league.  Dale was a teacher in elementary education.  She just retired and is enjoying life more than ever.  She does substitute teach periodically to reinforce her decision to retire.

We have three children: Douglas, Gregory and Julie.

Douglas graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia and is now working in Indianapolis for Raytheon.  He likes to ski and recently started to use a wake board.

Greg is the fisherman in the family.  He just graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia with his MBA.  His under graduate degree was in Mechanical Engineering and his business degree specialized in finance.  He is now employed with The Boeing Company in St. Louis.

Julie is a junior at Mizzou where she is majoring in chemistry.  She plans to do environmental work after graduation.

Molly is our golden retriever and considered to be one of the family.  She just celebrated her 13th birthday.

We lived in Bridgeton, MO for most of our years in St. Louis.  It was a city of about 18,000.  I served on various boards and commissions over the years and then was elected to City Council where I served for 8 years before we moved to St. Charles, Mo.  After we moved, I took an evening course in wood carving through adult education that was taught by members of the local carving club.  It sparked my interest and I have been carving since.  Check out my web site for some pictures of my work.  ( www.thesapps.com )  I am now teaching the class that got me into carving.

We have sold the home place in Hepler, KS.  My father died in 1995 and my mother now lives in an assisted living facility near us.  My brother Frank is in the restaurant management business in Oklahoma.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!
