Welcome. This site has been established to keep alive the bond that former residents of Hepler have with their old home town and friends.
The picture above was taken in 2001. Since then the building, which was grade school to most of us and a community/library to others has been demolished in preparation for the new community building shown below.

Hepler History
Once the hay capital of the world, located in Crawford County, on the MKT Railroad. In 1871 a town company was formed , with Dr. B.F. Hepler as president, after whom the town was named. John Viets was the first settler and erected the first store in 1871. A post office was established in 1871 with J.N. Strawn as postmaster. The first marriage was Dr. A.W. Griffin to Grace Hitch. The first birth was Frank Strawn.

Hepler in the 21st Century
Although the town is no larger today than it was 50 years ago, the community spirit is alive and well and new residents continue to move into the area. The gallery below will show you the Hepler of today.
